Service & Atmosphere
The Wine Bar at Brother’s Lounge is a charming little bar and eatery, perfect for sipping a relaxing cocktail while enjoying some live music. The Wine Bar has a nice, upscale feel to it and it attracts a bit of an older crowd, which makes it a great go-to for a quiet dinner or a post work glass of wine. We were lucky enough to visit the Wine Bar on a Friday when one of our favorite local bands was playing, The Madison Crawl. The condensed version of the usually large band was the perfect accompaniment to the already enjoyable atmosphere. The service at the Wine Bar was exceptional! Our server, who was also the lone bartender, was extremely attentive and efficient–a true professional!
The Drinks
The Wine Bar features a huge selection of reasonably priced by-the-bottle wine, starting at around $25 per bottle. They also have a rather large list of wines by-the-glass. The Wine Bar does much more than just wines though! They feature a nice variety of specialty martinis like the tasty butterfinger, the purple haze, and the chocolate covered pretzel. These all set you back $7.50–which isn’t bad for such a fancy drink! The beer selection at the Wine Bar is quite good, too. Draft options included Stone IPA, Great Lakes Dortmunder, and Mojo IPA, along with a decent variety of domestic, craft, and import bottles.
The Food
We first sampled the veggie burger ($9), a homemade black bean patty on a fresh, toasted brioche bun, topped with cheddar and pickled onions. It was, without a doubt, one of the better restaurant veggie burgers I’ve tried–it was actually quite flavorful and it maintained it didn’t fall apart like most bean patties tend to do. Plus, the addition of the house pickled onions made it that much better! It came with a side of perfectly crispy and just salty enough fries. We also sampled the trio of sliders ($10.50), three tasty mini-burgers made with antibiotic and hormone-free beef, served on individual toasted brioche buns, topped with cheddar and house pickled onions. The meat was flavorful, well-seasoned, and juicy–all of the components that make up a perfect burger!
Brother’s Lounge features a menu full of standard American favorites, including a variety of sandwiches, salads, and a few entrees like the Faroe Island salmon ($18), steak frites ($16), and herbed chicken ($14).
Overall
Between the relaxed ambiance, the live music, the great drink varieties, and the tasty food options, the Wine Bar at Brother’s Lounge is definitely a place to check out! If nothing else, swing by for a quick drink and enjoy the atmosphere! Find more reviews of Brother’s Lounge on Urbanspoon:
