Service and Atmosphere
The Diner on Clifton is a quirky, retro-style diner that sits on the corner of Clifton Boulevard and West 117th Street in Cleveland. This cute little neighborhood diner serves up traditional American grub, but it’s many steps above the other local greasy spoons–it’s a clean and comfortable breakfast favorite.
The service at The Diner on Clifton was just about what you would expect: the servers were friendly enough and made sure my coffee was full at all times, and our food came out quite fast–I don’t think you can ask for more than that.
The Drinks
The Diner on Clifton features basic diner-style drinks like coffee, tea, and juice, along with a variety of simple, yet tasty, milkshakes and malts.
The Food
If you’re in the market for a filling, affordable breakfast (or lunch or dinner for that matter), then you’ve come to the right place! Offering up breakfast all day, every day, you’ll find an assortment of early morning favorites including a variety of omelets, diner scrambles, pancakes, and eggs benedict.
I opted for a simple cheese omelet ($5.95), served with homefries and a side of wheat toast. The omelet came loaded up with plenty of melted cheddar and the eggs were nice and fluffy–a perfect omelet. The homefries were also a pleasant surprise–nice and crispy and actually a bit seasoned, unlike most diner-style potatoes I’ve encountered in the past. Overall, it was a very tasty breakfast for just a few dollars!
We also tried the diner breakfast with scrambled eggs, homefries, and toast ($4.95). The scrambled eggs were just as good as the omelet–fluffy and well seasoned, not flat and dry like most.
If you find yourself on the west side during lunch or dinner and aren’t in the mood for breakfast, The Diner on Clifton is still an option for a quick, low priced bite to eat. They feature a full lunch and dinner menu filled with diner-style comfort food favorites like meatloaf, fish and chips, sheperd’s pie, and their diner deluxe burger. They also have a great variety of soups and salads served with homemade dressings.
Overall
The diner on Clifton is certainly a great go-to breakfast joint for west-siders, or a good place to check out if you’re just passing by. You can count on good food at even better prices, and a nice, relaxed atmosphere for a lazy weekend morning.
