Terminal Tower might not be the tallest building in downtown Cleveland, but it’s the only one that offers an observation deck (42 floors up) to get a different perspective of our beloved city. Unfortunately, the deck doesn’t have daily business hours, so you can’t go up whenever you’d like.
The best way we’ve found to keep an eye on when things are happening at the observation deck, is to follow @TowerLightsCLE on Twitter. Not only will they keep you up-to-date on what’s going on, you’ll get the inside scoop on what’s behind the tower’s awesome light displays.
The deck is officially open to the public from April 6 to December 15; Saturdays from 12 – 5 p.m. & Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m. For each day the deck is open, 50 tickets are sold for every 30 minute time block during hours of operation. You can purchase tickets in advance on the Tower’s EventBrite page. A single ticket will set you back a whopping $6.27. Occasionally, you can catch a special opening like the upcoming Love & Lights event on Valentine’s Day.
We recently grabbed some tickets for a rare evening opening of the observation deck called Light the Night. As hobbyist photographers, we’re always looking for an opportunity to take some unique pictures and, considering we’ve never had the opportunity to check out the view of Cleveland form there, we just couldn’t pass it up.
For reference, the photo at the top of the page is looking east out of the tower and the photo below is looking west. We’ll have prints available to purchase online soon. In the meantime, contact us if you’re interested.
Something to keep in mind, the 30 minute time block that you purchase your ticket for includes the time you’ll spend traveling the elevators (there’s two) between the ground and 42nd floor. Including waiting and travel time, you’ll get about 15-20 minutes to spend looking out over the city.
