Service and Atmosphere
Danny Boys Pizza, located in the heart of Rocky River, is a cozy little neighborhood pizzeria that features a family atmosphere, a Little Italy ambiance, and plenty of old Sinatra decor. With five locations in northeast Ohio and plenty of local awards under their belt, Danny Boys Pizza is a must-try for every pizza lover!
Our experience at Danny Boys started with us grabbing a seat from the several available tables just outside the restaurant. Our server promptly greeted us, took our drink and food orders, and we suffered only a small wait before our tasty pizza arrived. Overall, the service was quick and friendly–just what you would expect from a pizza place.
Danny Boys features a decent variety of domestic bottled and draft beer (plus a sparse list of craft options), along with a few simple wine choices. Keep in mind that if you’re looking for a Sunday pizza and beer outing, you’ll want to skip over Danny Boys–they don’t have a Sunday alcohol license.
It’s also worth mentioning that Danny Boys only does beer and wine–no liquor.
The menu at Danny Boys features a plentiful variety of appetizers, a full list of salads, and tons of sandwiches, subs, and pasta dishes to choose from. Then, of course, there’s the pizza: choose from either a plain, customizable pie or one of their around 20 specialty pizzas or calzones.
We started with an order of the much-loved Danny Boys breadsticks ($5.99). Made fresh to order from the restaurant’s pizza dough, the generous and filling pile of breadsticks were light and fluffy, just as the menu promises.
Knowing that we’d likely be feeling full from the appetizer we planned to indulge in, we settled on a small cheese pizza with half jalapeños ($10.99). It was just what you would expect from a near-perfect pie: flavorful, homemade crust, a sauce that was the perfect mix of sweet and savory, and plenty of gooey cheese.
We stopped into Danny Boys with our expectations high for a simple, yet delicious pizza, and we certainly didn’t walk away disappointed. If you’re looking for an alternative to the other local “high end” pizza joints like Angelo’s and Dewey’s Pizza, Danny Boys is a great choice!
