The Marc’s Great American Rib Cook-Off is a much-loved Cleveland festival oozing of everything good about summer: live music, barbecue, and, of course, cold beer. Each Memorial Day weekend, thousands gather at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica to indulge in Cleveland’s largest and most delicious cookout.
The 2013 Rib Cook-Off featured ten barbecue masters from across the country, with competitors hailing from Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and our own Bigfoot BBQ Co, from West Salem, Ohio. Participants battled for the titles of Chuck Collier Greatest Ribs in America, Butch Lupinetti Greatest Sauce in America, and People’s Choice.
On Memorial Day Monday the winners were announced:
Chuck Collier Greatest Ribs in America:
1st prize: Porky ‘N’ Beans (FL)
2nd prize: Famous Dave’s BBQ (MN)
3rd prize: Chicago BBQ Company (IL)
Butch Lupinetti Greatest Sauce in America:
1st prize: Johnson’s BBQ (VA)
2nd prize: Chicago BBQ Company (IL)
3rd prize: Pigfoot BBQ Co. (OH)
People’s Choice:

In addition to the tasty barbecue fare, the Rib Cook-Off didn’t disappoint on the entertainment either. Three stages filled the festival with great music from both local band as well as big named headliners. The main stage featured Rick Springfield, Buddy Guy, and Bret Michaels.

Would like to suggest that they locate the upper stage so that it faces the Jacob’s Pavilion
instead of facing the vendors and entrance gate. The music from the upper stage drowned out the acoustic music in the tent.
